Tanzania Southern Circuit Destinations
The Southern Circuit is Tanzania’s hidden wilderness gem. Some of the popular tourist attractions in Southern Tanzania includes the vast Nyerere National Park, the rugged landscapes of Ruaha, African Wild Dog sightings, boat safaris on the Rufiji River, and remote, off-the-beaten-path trekking in the Udzungwa Mountains.
Selous Game Reserve

Selous is one of the quiet parks in Tanzania and less visited yet offers a great safari experience. This game reserve is characterized by forests, lakes, mountains, rivers and plains. Wildlife found here include The Big Five, antelopes, spotted hyena, side-stripped jackal, vervet and yellow baboon, zebras, giraffe, waterbuck, bushbuck, eland, greater kudu and hartebeest. Selous also hosts a large number of wild dogs.
Activities: Game viewing, walking tours, hot-springs visit and river boat safaris.
Ruaha National Park

Just like Selous, Ruaha is a less busy park, though more remote and bigger. Wildlife found here include lions, cheetahs, wild dogs, elephants, buffalo and other small animals.
Apart from wildlife Ruaha is characterized by rocky escarpments and hills with baobab trees.
