This 4-day Rwanda gorilla trekking safari offers a focused and unforgettable encounter with one of the world’s most remarkable wildlife experiences.

Starting in Kigali, you will journey to Volcanoes National Park, home to the endangered mountain gorillas.

The highlight is a guided trek through misty forests to spend a rare and intimate hour with a habituated gorilla family.

Detailed Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Kigali City tour & Transfer to Volcanoes National Park, Approx. 3-4 hours

Be picked by our safari driver who will brief you and head for a Kigali city tour, visiting Kigali genocide museum, where over 250000 victims of the genocide were laid to rest in a mass grave, Belgium museum, were 10 Belgium peace keepers were also laid to rest as being also victims to the genocide of 1994.

Later have lunch and transfer to Musanze to arrive late afternoon.

Overnight: The Bishop House/Five Volcanoes Boutique Hotel/Da Vinci lodge

Day 2: Volcanoes - Gorilla Trekking & cultural experience

Arise early and have breakfast, at 6.30 a.m. thereafter be transferred to the park’s headquarters, Office of Tourism in Kinigi where you are briefed by the park ranger about the rules and regulations governing Gorilla tracking before you head off to the jungle in search for these gentle giants.

The gorilla trek can last from an hour to six hours depending on the gorilla’s movements and although the trek is strenuous it is rewarding at the end. You will be given an hour with the gorilla to take as many pictures and just enjoy watching them play.

Thereafter trek back to start point and head to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, you will have a village foot safari, to explore the local life with a taste of the traditional performance at Iby Iwacu cultural center.

Day 3: Volcanoes - Golden Monkey trekking

Have early breakfast then be transferred to the park’s headquarters for briefing and immediately start off your golden monkey trek.

Just like the gorilla trek experience, the same applies to golden monkey trekking though not hectic like gorilla trekking. You will later return to the lodge for lunch and head to Gisenyi – L. Kivu where you will spend the rest of your evening relaxing at the lodge.

Overnight: Kivu Marina Bay/Lake Kivu Serena/Paradise Kivu

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

 

Day 4: Lake Kivu - Boat ride and transfer to Kigali

Have breakfast then a transfer to Lake Kivu for a boat ride. This ride allows you to explore the islands within this great lake and watch local fishermen doing their business.

You will later return for lunch and transfer to Kigali. If time permits, visit some art galleries, local market for shopping, before a drop off at the airport or your hotel.
